PAT testing for businesses and landlords
Portable appliance testing checks that kettles, computers, extension leads and other plug-in equipment are safe to use. It helps you meet your duty under the Electricity at Work Regulations and keeps your insurer happy.
What's included
- Visual inspection of every appliance
- Electrical testing where needed
- Pass/fail label on each item
- Full digital asset register
- Minor repairs on site (plugs, fuses)
- Out-of-hours testing available
- Reminders when retesting is due
- Certificate for your records
How often to test
There's no fixed legal interval. The IET Code of Practice recommends a risk-based approach: heavy-use equipment on building sites needs checking far more often than a monitor in an office. We'll recommend a schedule for your premises.
Questions
Do landlords need PAT testing?
It isn't a legal requirement for rented homes, but it's recommended for any appliances you supply, and many letting agents ask for it.
Will it disrupt our office?
Each item is only unplugged for a minute or two. We can work early, late or at weekends if needed.
